The American Militia Association IS NOT a federal or national militia!
However, our members and enrollees are in fact militia within their particular State and the lower level local political jurisdictions to which they belong. While there is an "Army National Guard of the United States", it is not a militia, and is actually a reserve component of the U.S. Army. Our founders never intended to have a large federal standing army, especially in times of peace.

In order to facilitate enhanced communications and local resources for our members, we have broken our members up into local groups automatically. To prevent abuse and confusion, you will only be able to directly interact with the content, tools and resources available to the group in which you actually belong.
